You cannot save yourself from your sin. You cannot save yourself from the anger of God, or from hell. No man or religion can save you. It is terrible! It is terrible! “O God, help me!”
Do you call out to God for help? You are doing the right thing. Only God can help you. But you must come to Him on His terms, not on yours. You must come to Him by the way He has provided, not by your way. What is God’s way?
About 2,000 years ago, God took upon Himself perfect human nature. He became man, without ceasing to be God. That man was Jesus Christ. “Impossible!”, you say. But why do you say it is impossible? To God, nothing is impossible. Do not try to limit the power of God!
“But how can you associate a man with God? That is abominable!”, you say. But wait a moment. I have not said that a man became God. What I have said is that God became man, while continuing to be God. That is something totally different.
Jesus Christ was miraculously born of the virgin Mary, without a human father. By the power of the Spirit of God, Jesus Christ was kept free from human sin. In His life on earth, He kept God’s law perfectly. In Jesus Christ, we have one Person with two natures – the divine and the human. He is, therefore, perfectly suited to be the Mediator between God and man. He saves sinners by His death on the cross. That is God’s way to save sinners.
