To Christians, 31 October is Reformation Day. On that day in 1517 Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door ot the church at Wittenburg and sparked off the Reformation. In God’s providence, this is also the day we are launching the Indonesian section of our website. This is no small venture, for the time and effort needed in translating and producing articles in Indonesian will be daunting.
We are more familiar with Malay than with Indonesian. Our regular messages in church are in English, and not in Malay. We choose to translate from English to Indonesian because the religious vocabulary of the Indonesian Christians is richer than that of the Malay-speaking Christians in Malaysia. Malay-speaking Christians in Malaysia largely use the Bibles and books produced in Indonesia. Due to the situation, our translation may often seem to have a Malay flavour. We crave the understanding and indulgence of our readers in this.
It is “in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling” that we pass this milestone. Our prayer is that God will bless this feeble effort, and give us grace to persevere on. Amen.
