The Bible consists of the Old Testament and the New Testament, written by chosen men who were moved by the Spirit of God. The 39 books of the Old Testament were written in Hebrew, before the coming of Jesus Christ. The 27 books of the New Testament were written in Greek, after the coming of Jesus Christ.
Some people claim that the Bible has been changed by the Jews and the Christians. This accusation is not true. Up to today, the holy book of the Jews is exactly the same as the Old Testament of the Bible. The Jews do not accept the New Testament and they do not believe in Jesus Christ. If the Jews had changed their holy book, or the Christians the Old Testament, the two will not be exactly the same today.
It is equally ridiculous to believe that the New Testament has been changed. By the end of the second century A.D., the Christian faith had spread to Africa, Europe and India. By the end of the seventh century A.D., it had spread to China. If we compare all the Bibles from the various countries, we will find that the contents are exactly the same. Either the Bible has never been changed, or Christians from all over the world met at a giant conference some time in the past and agreed to change certain parts into something else which they also agreed upon. Clearly, this second alternative is absurd!
“But arenât there different versions of the Bible around today?”, you ask. The “versions” means “translations”. Some are in old English, some are in modern English. Some are in Chinese, some in other languages. But the contents of all these versions are the same.
The Bible is the complete revelation of God to mankind. It is sufficient to lead us to a true knowledge of God and to give us guidance in this life. God warns us in the Bible not to add to, or take away from, His complete revelation. That is why we do not accept other so-called holy books.
